NASA’s Moon to Mars Programme’s first director is Indian-American software and robotics developer Amit Kshatriya. This initiative will build a long-term presence on the Moon, essential for Mars missions. Kshatriya becomes NASA’s first office chief immediately. He will immediately manage the unit that oversees the agency’s Moon and Mars human exploration. Kshatriya will lead human trips to these celestial entities to benefit humanity as office chief.

Kshatriya directed and integrated the Space Launch System, Orion, and Exploration Ground Systems programs. He has supported NASA’s Moon to Mars goals through Artemis Campaign Development Division efforts. Kshatriya formerly served as acting deputy associate administrator for the Common Exploration Systems Development Division. In 2003, Kshatriya began working as a software engineer, robotics engineer, and spacecraft operator on the robotic construction of the International Space Station.
Moon-Mars Program
To help NASA put humans on Mars and explore the Moon, the Moon to Mars Programme Office was developed. The office supports the agency’s exploration approach with hardware development, mission integration, and risk management, according the 2022 NASA Authorisation Act. According to the news statement, Artemis trips to the Moon will uncover fresh scientific findings and prepare humans for Mars missions.
